You work. You get paid. You save for something that matters. Learning Bitcoin starts with understanding the money you already use—and asking who sets its rules.
We’ll work through the ideas together, one lesson at a time. By the end, you should be able to explain both the purpose of Bitcoin and how the network supports it.
Course syllabus
Ten lessons, in order. Each one builds on the last. Each has a worked example and a summary that connects the ideas.
Part 1
Begin with your own experience of earning, saving and paying. Learn what Bitcoin proposes to change.
You’ll be able to
Explain what money does for you and why some people want Bitcoin.
Understand what money lets us do, and why the rules behind it affect everyday life.
Learn the main ideas behind Bitcoin: a supply anyone can predict, money you control yourself, and rules anyone can check.
Learn the two problems digital money must solve, and how wallets, nodes and miners each help.
Part 2
Follow a payment from the person who authorizes it to the network that checks it.
You’ll be able to
Explain who controls the money, who checks the rules and who you still have to trust.
Part 3
Connect these ideas to the machines, the rewards and the dashboard numbers behind the network.
You’ll be able to
Explain what miners add to the network and read the numbers on a mining dashboard.
Trillions of attempts. One tiny check. That imbalance is the point.
Follow a block reward from new bitcoin to the economics of a mining floor.
There is no master clock handing out blocks. There is an adjustment.
The block is rare. Your contribution should not be invisible.
Open a block explorer. The ideas you just learned are happening right now.
