Power Whips & Metering Voltage
Understand documented supply results and hand electrical testing to the qualified team before diagnosing a dark miner.
What a power whip is
A power whip connects distribution equipment to a miner. Its connector, wiring and rating must match the exact equipment and approved site design.
Reviewing a supply check
These are evidence-review steps for learners. They are not a live-probing procedure.
- Record the affected miner, PSU label, circuit identification and symptoms without opening electrical enclosures or touching conductors.
- Ask the qualified, authorized electrical team to assess the supply using the site procedure and appropriate inspected test equipment.
- Compare their documented results against the actual supply topology and the exact equipment input specifications.
- Escalate abnormal or uncertain results; keep affected equipment out of service until the responsible team clears return to service.
Only qualified, authorized personnel perform circuit testing. Do not infer conductor function from an unverified color or photo. In this US reference context, green identifies protective grounding, not a phase conductor.
Expected readings depend on the documented supply
There is no universal whip voltage table. Documented L1/L2/L3, N and PE identification, supply topology and the exact PSU rating determine interpretation. Nominal line-to-line and line-to-neutral values are different; protective grounding is not an interchangeable supply conductor.
A reported low or missing supply may support an upstream fault hypothesis, but does not identify a fuse or prove the miner healthy. Correlate circuit records and qualified-team findings. Fuse appearance alone is not a conclusive test.
