The layers of tooling

You touch a miner through four layers, friendliest to lowest-level: the on-device web UI, desktop batch tools (many miners at once), the port-4028 API (monitoring), and SSH (root shell). Fleet platforms sit on top and poll the API continuously.

• One miner on the bench -> web UI.
• A rack -> desktop batch tool (APMinerTool / WhatsMinerTool / BTC Tools).
• A whole farm -> a fleet platform (Foreman, Awesome Miner, Hiveon, Braiins Manager).

Braiins Toolbox (install & manage Braiins OS+)

Braiins Toolbox is the GUI+CLI app for installing and managing Braiins OS+ firmware across Antminers - no SD card needed for most units.

1. Download Braiins Toolbox from braiins.com and the firmware package for your exact model.
2. Verify the download checksum (SHA-256) against the published value.
3. Confirm the miner is reachable on the LAN; note its IP.
4. GUI: point Toolbox at the miner IP(s) and run Install. CLI equivalent: bos-toolbox install <MINER_IP>.
5. Enter miner credentials when prompted (factory default often root/root).
6. Wait ~5-10 min - Toolbox auto-BACKS-UP the stock firmware, then the miner reboots into Braiins OS+.
7. Browse to the miner IP, change the password, set a Power/Hashrate target and pools.
8. Uninstall/revert: bos-toolbox uninstall <MINER_IP> restores the backup.

Bitmain APMinerTool (Antminer batch)

1. Scan one or more IP ranges to enumerate every Antminer (IP/MAC/model/status).
2. Select many units -> push a pool config, firmware image, or reboot in one batch.
3. Batch-convert DHCP -> static for production racks.
4. Export the discovered list for your site map/inventory.

MicroBT WhatsMinerTool (Whatsminer batch)

1. Enter an IP range and Start - it lists every Whatsminer with status, temps, and error codes.
2. CHANGE the admin password and ENABLE the Miner API Switch (required before any write-API/monitoring works).
3. Batch pool config, firmware upgrade, reboot, power-mode toggle (Low/Normal/High), Fastboot, Restore DHCP.
4. Export status to CSV for records.

BTC Tools & fleet platforms

• BTC Tools - popular third-party scanner: scan a subnet, bulk-config pools, batch firmware, quickly spot dead/low miners.
• Foreman - cloud fleet mgmt: monitoring, alerts, bulk remote commands, triggers/scheduled actions, curtailment, site-map heatmaps.
• Awesome Miner - Windows, up to ~200k ASICs; profit switching; can flash its own firmware to restore SSH/API on locked units.
• Hiveon / ASIC Hub - install the ASIC Hub agent to bridge miners to the Hiveon cloud (enable the Whatsminer API first).
• Braiins Manager - detailed site map, curtailment, and about 1% power tracking; pairs with Braiins OS+.
• Vnish VOU and LuxOS Commander - each firmware's own batch installer/manager.
