This is shared Whatsminer M30 / M50 / M60 Series reference material covering 13 models. Components, supply voltage/phase, PSU, cooling and service procedures vary by model and revision. Use the exact model nameplate and OEM manual; shared examples do not establish compatibility.
Every unit is built from the same handful of parts. Learn what each does, how to identify it, and - most importantly for diagnosis - what its failure looks like.
THE defining Whatsminer difference: the power supply is built INTO the chassis (a module inside the unit), not a separate external brick like Antminer's APW. It exposes dedicated PSU error codes (200-series + hex 0x0001-0x2000) and a get_psu API (model e.g. P221B, Vin, Iin, Pin, fan, temp).
Delivers DC to the three boards; its faults are handled differently (and are a heavier swap) than an Antminer brick.
No separate silver brick - the PSU is internal, with its own fan and fault codes. Wants a stable 220-277 V AC feed (≥230 V for high-performance mode).
A small PCB on the side of the unit holding the SoC, RJ45, recessed reset button, LEDs, and connectors to the hashboards via ADAPTER boards. Platform strings: H3OS/H6OS (get_version returns the platform).
Runs BTMiner (MicroBT's cgminer equivalent), networking, and the API/web UI.
Side-mounted board behind a metal cover; recessed reset button; green/red LEDs.
Three hashboards (internally SM0/SM1/SM2) of SHA-256 ASICs, each connected via an ADAPTER board + ribbon and a heavy COPPER BUSBAR ('copper row') bolted with screws. The API reports Effective Chips, PCB SN, per-board temps.
The hashing muscle; ~1/3 of hashrate each.
Three finned boards; the bolted copper busbar power connection is distinctive vs Antminer's cabled power.
Air-cooled models use two 12038 high-static-pressure fans - one intake (Fan In), one exhaust (Fan Out). The API reports Fan Speed In/Out in RPM. Hydro (M53/M63) and immersion (M56/M66) variants report liquid-flow errors instead.
Airflow across the boards; codes 110-140 cover fan faults.
Two large fans at the ends; API fields Fan Speed In / Fan Speed Out.
